Our experts work with lots of patients struggling with different disorders. Because of this, we build tailored care plans to address the most common eating disorders. If you decide to meet with our team to receive one of our treatments for eating disorders in Orlando, we can address the following concerns with care and patience.
Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia nervosa affects 0.3% of men and 0.9% of women in the United States. This disorder manifests as a powerful fear of gaining weight and an inaccurate self-perception related to body size. Patients with this condition intentionally avoid consuming food, even when they’re extremely hungry.
Bulimia Nervosa
Bulimia nervosa is more common than anorexia, affecting 1.5% of women and 0.5% of men in the United States. Patients with this disorder may be prone to eating an excessive amount of food, only to purge it by inducing vomiting. Bulimic patients may also follow binge eating with intense exercise.
Binge Eating Disorder
3.5% of women and 2% of men in the United States will have a binge-eating disorder in their lifetime. Patients with this disorder may uncontrollably consume an excessive amount of food, even when they know they aren’t hungry. Unlike bulimia, however, patients who binge-eat do not attempt to “counter” their eating behaviors with purging.
